I actually worked in that area for two summers. The conditions are terrible and the Tribal council are just as corrupt as our own government officials. There is very little for miles outside these reservations and the blatant racism in surrounding towns makes it near impossible for the Native Americans to get jobs. I know it may seem stereotypical but alcoholism is a serious problem in this area. Though many don't have the money to drink real booze, they drink Lysol and huff paint, glue, and gas to escape the reality of their terrible situation.

here in AZ, you drive through reservations all the time. even if they are getting unreported checks (and they do, i think they refer to it as "per cap" checks) they are often broke as fukk, and dont benefit from much of the public infrastructure spending that even ghetto people get. the streets are terrible, and garbage disposal is either sporadic or completely left up to the individual. i think the tribe elders have to figure out how to emulate modern american urban planning, and they dont often have the budgets to do it. youre definitely better off leaving and just getting an apartment and a job.

Great point.

I think it only matters when it affects main street. THey don't seem to really care when it's Native Americans, Blacks or even rural whites in the Appalachian Mountains.

Native Americans are especially fukked because a lot of times these reservations are sovereign entities and controlled ruthlessly by corrupt tribal leaders, and when they try to leave they realized the sometimes lack skills to join the workforce or they face discrimination.

I mean, can you imagine how it must feel when you look at this shyt everyday?
