The Order: 1886 Sequel Coming?

In a recent interview with Game Informer, The Order: 1886's creative director Ru Weerasuriya and Ready at Dawn's CTO Andrea Pessino reflected upon the development, release and reception the PS4 exclusive The Order: 1886. While both admit that the game had its shortcomings, Weerasuriya teased that something new could happen in the franchise as the IP "has a future".

"The best way to answer that without giving anything… how can I say this… Is there a future? Yes. That IP has a future. It’s definitely built in that IP," said Weerasuriya.

"That future is already something that was built from the very get go, from the first day we started working on it. As you know, since you played the game and for the ones who played out there… there is a larger storyline. There is a macro story that keeps going, it’s an IP that is actually bigger than the storylines that we have created. So there are legs to this IP, definitely."

I hope so. I enjoyed the first one. If the game would have been longer and with a multiplayer component it would have been crazy.

Xbots are gonna hate this but I promise I'm saying this as a compliment: The order plays a lot like gears of war. They got all of the basics right with game overall. Incredible graphics, solid gun battles, and personally I thought the story was solid with a cool twist, especially for me since I'm a fan of history and classic literature. The problem was it just didn't have enough substance. They had the blueprint and a solid foundation but it seems like they sacrificed everything else to focus on graphics. I enjoyed it, and for $20 - $30 I think it's easily worth it. I wish it was appreciated more for what it actually was instead of hated for what it could have been.

Given the fact that it flopped and a sequel is unlikely no. It's a game that's all story and doesn't even really have an ending. If a sequel ever were to happen yeah it would be worth playing.
