8 is bad because you can't get a look at how the race is going you can't see behind you. It's actually one of the worst spots to be in. 4, 5, and 6 are the best. It's why Lyles always chooses 6

van niekerk was in the 8th lane when he ran the world record

Historical lanes 3-4-5-6 have been the best never said any different nor did I claim Lane 8 was better than those.

If youre in Lane 8/9 you can run your own race its really not that hard to understand. We've all seen many sprinters who've crumbled when running in those lanes 3-6 because they see the Opps run past them on the bend/home straight and then panic sets in they become heavy legged blow up trying to stay with the quicker runner and fall away. This is basically my point being in Lane 8/9 island. It isn't the worst thing in the world and is much better than lanes 1 and 2 which are by far the worst for 200 and 400m events. Being in Lane 8/9 doesn't mean you cannot win if your mentally think like this then you've already lost.

Van Niekerk 400m WR from Lane 8 is basically the blueprint on how you attack a race racing from that lane.

Best lane 8 200m wins.

Yeah, that’s how it looks, but if you’ve ever run, you’ll know that man was moving at 100%. There was nothing left :pachaha:

TV doesn't really show

I remember seeing a washed ben johnson run like 10.50 seconds in the 100m at york university as a kid and it was like a damn blur

Its crazy how people think an athlete will willingly slow down just to stunt, when a world record is within reach

Ain't no way
Lyles is in rare form. Bracey, Coleman and the short breh that won bronze are in 9.8/9.9 form.

When Jamaica set the record the other two brehs were in 10 seconds form that season. USA were clearly ahead in that race before Blake cooked Tyson Gay on the 2nd bend

It's not even about the individual times each sprinter has done for that seasons form. Its about getting the baton round. Which US has had a problems with the last 2 Olympics.
