Being a person that has probably been in about 50+ street fights. Therefore I think I have some knowledge in the arts. In no way am I the best fighter and I do believe in avoiding and/or retreating if there's no way you can win. Not winning doesn't only mean getting beat up, getting arrested is a major lost too.
We all see the fights and brawl on WSHH and Youtube. We see a lot of guys doing the wrong things and paying for it.
Never let anyone get close to you in a verbal altercation.
Strengths and Weaknesses
I think one of the most important things to know in a fight, is your strengths and weaknesses. Strenghts: I'm 6'2 225lb with a wingspan on 6'10. I'm a ex-pitcher (lefty). So I have a viscous left but weak right. I know if I punch very hard I'm going to break my hand. So I don't punch my hardest. . Im pretty allusive for a big dude. My defense is pretty good. You have to be a good punch to land one on me. Weakness: My ground game is wack. With this knowledge, I'm doing all I can to not get taken to the ground. I'm pretty agile, so I'll spin and twist to get out of grappling
Atmosphere and Area
Is it a bar type of fight or there many adversaries in close proximity? If it is, you need to punching and weaving towards an exit or at least a corner or wall so you can keep the fight in front of you. Nothing worse than getting blindsiding in a brawl.
Type of Fight
Will it be a stand-up boxing match, ground and pound or a combination of both. From my experience most guys that immediately try to wrestle don't have good hands. So if you can avoid their grabs and come over there reached out hands with some good punches, they will get discouraged fast.
If you're fighting a bigger dude, you better be aware if he can use his weight well. He can easily knock you off balance, making your punches and offense weaker. As a bigger dude, I use punch harder than guys smaller than me. So I try to keep them off of balance and it's over after that.
Add on fellas......
