Antifa are present but the right has bigger numbers.

The right is more in tune with german culture - their striving for regimentation and ordnung. For everything to be the same and to have its place. To hate change.

The Teutonic way of life prizes order.

Some find it hard to handle minor differences because of that.

German neighbours have been known to reorder and rehang their neighbours washing because it looked too disordered.

How are people like that going to handle cultural differences - like dress / appearance.

It really is engrained in the culture as you say. You're in Frankfurt right? But like most big cities they will be first to be a "little" bit more comfortable with change. But it really only is youth culture that has created the outpouring of more liberal ideals. German engineering and teutonic lack of humour are stereotypes that originated somewhere....
