yall brehs cracked open the GoT books? I just finished the first one and it's better than the show tbf. looks intimidating, but is an easy read looking back

Read the 3 first books in french (well the 9 first books as each book was divided in 3 in french). Then I got tired and started reading the books in english so I can get that crack unfiltered. I think the show was pretty faithful to the books in the beginning but as Martin said the show will fly with its own wings and differ greatly from the books so I ain't mad. The two will be different entities (and are already) so I think it will be nice to follow both.

It never bothered me that the Simpsons fell off. Every TV show has an expiration date where they just get stale and the creative well runs dry. Even now the Simpsons can drop a B-B+ episode but it's not nearly as consistent as it used to be. They also don't have the writing staff now to do the sentimental moments like the MJ episode or The Way We Was.

Yeah, but that drop off was just too much to me. Got some of the early seasons on DVD and that's it. All that other stuff never happened in my world.

Lol nah, I meant "tired of waiting". Dunno why it got cut.
The thing is the books in french take some time to be released (translation and all) and it goes up to three year after the OG release. Books are so dense I can understand that it takes time for the translation to be perfect (and the OG french translator changed between book 3 and 4 IIRC) and therefore for the book to be released. And for the readers to avoid waiting years, the editor divides the book in 3 so the first third is out within a year. It goes like this usually :
Y - Book in English is released
Y + 1 - First third in french is out
Y + 2 - Second third in french is out
Y + 3 - Release of the final third in french

I think I stopped the french versions at book 10 and therefore switched to book 4 in English at the time asap. IIRC I read book 1 to 9 (in french) in a couple of months because it was that good (and I'm a fan of Heroic/Medieval fantasy books) so there was no way I was gonna wait 3 years to get my crack. Therefore I switched to the books in English (had to buy the first 3 OG books in English and re read them so I can get the names and the places right).

I can see why @penfield doesnt want Cavani to Arsenal. I'm watching PSG vs. Evian TG FC () and Saint Germain are getting shut down by that parked bus. Dude isnt creating chances or making plays, passing is wacc. He had a decent pen attempt but that's it.

Honestly I feel like Arsene is done shopping and all of the names being tossed around are the usual media wumming. Reus would be nice, I guess, but Dortmond isn't letting him go AND buying him wouldn't address the two biggest holes on this team, striker and DM. Can't see Arsene giving Arteta the armband and then signing someone who will push him out of the starting XI. But I'd rather have a DM than another striker.

after reading the book i realized how much i spaced out on the show, at least the first season.

im on the beginning of the 2nd book (30 page prologue ), and already i see stannis in a clearer light than the show was able to do

the description of robb's victory with grey wind at his side just imagining being a young stark with a big ass wolf at my side choppin up these blond fukkboys

i also fukk with jon snow heavy as a result of the book, and question why dany is even a character, although i'm sure there's a payoff the show hasnt yet revealed
