6500 people got killed preparing for the World Cup :gucci:

They would have had better odds running dope for a Mexican cartel.
Qatar has bad labour conditions but that’s a misleading number and almost misinformation the way it’s presented

It’s all cause mortality of entire South Asian migrant population in Qatar over the past decade. Of that 1.5 million includes dependents, white collar worker, kids, people who worked on non WC projects (majority of workers)

If you compare mortality per a million to the countries they came from, it isn’t an extreme figure. Old BBC analysis says you’d expect even higher mortality rates for similar population in India: Have 1,200 World Cup workers really died in Qatar? - BBC News

The International Labour Organization says 50 people died on WC job sites last year. If you extrapolate that over 10 years you still don’t get anywhere near 6500.

And a note from the ILO on the figure:

The figure of “6,500 deaths”, as reported in a media report34, has been extensively reproduced by many other sources, not always including the context and details of the original article, and often attributing these fatalities to the construction of World Cup sites.35 The number includes all deaths in the migrant population (red circle), without differentiation between migrant workers and the general migrant population, let alone fatalities that resulted from occupational injuries. The general migrant population in Qatar is very large and diverse, and migrants from South Asia represent well over 50 per cent of the total population. They are of all ages, occupations, health status, with many having spent decades in the country. Therefore, a distinction should be made between the number of migrant workers who died for reasons unrelated to their occupation (green circle), and the number of those who died from work-related fatalities (blue circle).
The number of migrant deaths overall (red circle) is publicly reported

Is Kalvin Philips even fit? I havent seen him play at all for City and he's in the squad. I guess England arent blessed with options in midfield even Gallagher made it. Would have been good for Eze to make it as a wild card as someone completely different stylistically to the other midfielders.
