I do like international breaks as I get to see some of the new talents that don't play in some of the bigger leagues that I follow regularly.

Example: Frenkie de Jong and Matthjis de Ligt (to a lesser extent Donny van de Beek). These guys play for Ajax and outside of a few notable matches, I don't get a chance to see them play week in week out. The first two have been tipped as the next "wunderkids" out of the Ajax academy. I saw de Ligt in the match against Germany and dude looked legit alongside VVD.

De Jong has also been quite good in a few matches I've seen him play.

I'm actually looking forward to the the Netherlands vs France match.

If the Dutch can fine tune their attack then they'd be looking scary come 2020. Their back 3 (if they play that way) is already looking scary. VVD, de Ligt, de Vrij.

Nah, too soon. Maybe 2022/2024

They have some tidy players, but the quality isn't there. Yeah you can go on about the young players, they have, but realistically is the pool of players better or on the level that Belgium were at 4 years ago and the answer is no.

Relying on Hairline in 2020 :mjlol:

Let's wait and see. The game isn't won on paper. Coming to Russia, Germany on paper looked a very capable squad but we saw what happened. Netherlands has a good mix of youth and experience but they just lack that clinical striker upfront. Depay has seen a resurgence but he isn't the Icardi "one chance, one goal" type forward you can rely on.

I would say the issue goes all the way back to the last 2 years of Fergies reign tbh. When the squad was band aided by Fergies ability to get the most out of limited players and the board being cheap with signings.

Is David Gill ever held accountable by United fans? I know Glazers, Woodward, Moyes, LVG, Mourinho, players are the ones generally blamed for United not being United any longer.
Gill is way down the list of those responsible. You have to remember Gill only helped Fergie close deals. He didnt actually identify targets etc. He's way below Fergie in that regard.

Facts is when Fergie left, the club were in the best shape possible. In terms of a new manager coming in and bringing top players to the club with CL football on offer along with everything else. The squad did need a overhaul when he left but the structure to allow that to be done was available if only Moyes didn't sack the entire staff Fergie told him to keep.

:stopitslime: I can play that game as well. Holland in 90, 96, 98, 2000, 04, 06, 08, 12, looked good on paper as well. shyt the 08 was Big dikking in the group stages and then got turned over by Russia. You are overrating the players they have. VVD and Memphis are the clear standouts + a couple of good CB's the rest of the squad is made up of potential and FM/Fifa failures.

I blame Gill for running away when Fergie retired and leaving Woodward out of depth, for the first season, especially when it came to transfers. Look at how messy that post Fergie transfer window looked.:scust: everything was all fingers and thumbs.

While Moyes was stupid, sacking off the backroom staff, but I understand why he did it. If that makes sense. The writing was on the wall when he wanted Fellaini and Baines as his first signings.
Breh went from shopping at Asda to shopping at Harrods, but was still in that Asda mindset.

UK Brehs,

What's the big deal about Scudamore getting £5M as a sending off? Was surprised at the reaction and the talk about grassroots football?

He deserved way more for what he did for the Premier League, especially the big teams.

Long n short, because he made the PL more powerful than the FA.
