What's crazy is this is a real climbers climber tour, which is his strength anyway, but dude wants no part of it, and you KNOW it's because of the cobbles and the first week of the tour being rolling hilly stages like this year and he's fukking scared
Honestly, even though it turned out to be a wash, this years tour was the most interesting to watch since 2011 just off the strength of the route. I've always believed that the first week of the tour should be Classics-esque hilly stages that make the GC riders mix it up with various specialists on all types of courses to see who the REAL all-rounders are before the second and third weeks hit the big climbs. Just off the route alone I feel like Nibbles takes a couple minutes into the second week and Berto (and Quintana, if he rides) attack him like crazy to bring it back. I think this shyt will be a
level tour.I also think the ASO knew FULL well what they were doing with this layout. The French have to like the Brits dominating the Tour even less than Americans. The 2012 had the long time trial and was flat-ish than normal so none of the climbers could attack Wiggins. So for 2013 they made it climb heavy to debacle him, but it backfired because Froome was the leader and he killed everyone. But then for 2014, they saw that Froome was a big engine with no skills so they made the first week hell. Everyone thought there was no way they'd do cobbles two years in a row but lo and behold
The only bad thing is I wouldn't be surprised if Quintana doesn't ride either
