So what happens when MLS blows up and can compete with all the other leagues around the world as so many MLS fans desperately seem to want and have predicted but as a result, a mass of new fans are introduced to the league?

Surely that chafes with the belligerent and exclusive nature that the commentators, fans, and journalists seem to adopt most of the time. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
