of the top of my head the winner of each group gets home field advantage (american term) in the round of 16, aka they get to play the 2nd leg at home. they cannot face anyone from their own country or group. Once we get to the quarter finals, the previous rules don't apply and whoever is drawn is what happens. Also the brackets so to speak are already set. so for example PSG vs Barcelona , the winner of this match could only play the winner between A.madrid or Dortmund. On the other side of the bracket , had arsenal won, their only possible opponents were City or madrid
