Football culture is sick. It’s not just the fans, most of the players and the people in the media feel the exact same way. I wouldn’t be shocked if a large percentage of players have more disdain for Vini talking about the racism than they do for the people racially abusing him.

Racism will never leave the game.
This happens literally every time someone is racially abused.

"They are just trying to put him off his game, they don't really mean it"
"Whatever happens on the pitch should stay there, no need to speak about it after it's over"
"Shake hands and forget it"
"He was antagonizing the fans, they were just giving some back to him" :mjpls:
"I have black friends/Friends of all races" :pachaha:This one I actually find funny cause it's such an old Troupe yet it is used routinely in football.

Ex black player says I went through it, "its just what happens in football culture":yeshrug:

you are talking about latino / brazilian players who have other related issues in this area.

i have never heard an english breh say that.

i can't even think of any french player brehs off the top of my head.

and they are the two biggest groups of breh players in high profile football.

john barnes overcomplicates what he is saying so people miss it.

he says to focus on the systemic stuff over the symbolic or niche stuff.

which in the aggregate and in terms of the total effect on daily lives makes sense.

he is saying we need to fix our systems (education, media, socialisation etc) rather than trying to focus on ridding football (or any one similar area of life) of racism.

because as long as the societal influences are there making racists as they grow up you can never get rid of racism in football (and other selected areas).

he is proposing a "batting for the fences" approach which some might think is overambitious and unrealistic.

you didn't watch the videos.

:hubie:

I right I didn't I don't care to listen to him.
I've heard him speak enough through the years to know the vibe he is on :manny:

Saying society needs to change is nothing that hasn't been said, doesn't mean you can just blame all racism in football on ignorance and society :manny:

Sometimes people are just pieces of shyt.
