Everyone with sense knew that CR7 wasn’t going to stay if Utd wasn’t in the CL. The only way I could see him saying is if Utd really get aggressive in the transfer market and massively improve the team

Can someone explain this Renaldo situation. Sounds like his team didn’t make the “playoffs” so he asking to be traded to a team that is in.

Is that some normal shyt that happens in soccer?
Man U missed out on Champions League, and the club hasn’t made any significant improvements during the transfer window. Cristiano knows he’s towards the end of his career, and he doesn’t want to waste one of his few remaining years playing in Europa League for a mid-table squad.

Selling a top player isn’t out of the ordinary if a club misses out on CL.

Yeah more or less.

And yeah it's pretty normal in football. Players won't sign new contracts unless the club shows ambition or make the CL. Or a player will sign a contract and make an agreement with the club that if a team in the CL coming in to sign them the club will allow them to leave. Or if a player wants to leave they'll only agree to joining a new team if they are playing in the CL.
