@Kunty McPhuck Southampton have figured it out. :wow:

Shopping at Cobham gives you better better value for money than anything else. Livramento on a permanent deal last summer. Simeu as a free agent and Broja on loan which they want to make that permanent. And now the latest:

From Musiala to Lamptey, the club is losing super prospects whilst carrying some ageing or just plain terrible senior players.

Obviously you can't keep them all but Azpi is on his last legs and is leaving in the summer so it would have been great to have Lamptey or Livramento ready to step in. Musiala looking like a future world beater but Chelsea stuck with deadwood like Werner and Pulisic. Dreadful squad building and planning as usual.

Problem is Chelsea have too much talent and not enough space or time to use them all. And the academy is probably seen more as an revenue stream than anything else (like Real use theirs) and that isn't going to change with Marina in-charge of the day to day. Will be interesting to see what happens with clubs only being able to loan out 6 players.

The new loan rules only allow 6 players above the age of 21 so it shouldn't affect the academy prospects too much. Ideally you want them coming back around 21-22 anyway and to be ready to complete for a spot (like Mount, Tammy etc).

Hopefully the new rules stop the bullshyt loans of players like Drinkwater and Bakayoko etc being around for 5 years lol.

It's still a revenue stream. Which has probably paid back most of their transfer fees and wages long term instead of taking a loss on just selling them within a 12-18 months.

Saudi and Iran both through to the World Cup. Both cruised in qualifying with near perfect records. Renard managing Saudi - results dont lie with that guy, he gets results wherever he goes in the international game.

Tbf it's only a revenue stream contingent on bad business being conducted in the first place. Hopefully these news rules lead to less room for manoeuvre so scouting/squad building needs to improve. Drinkwater was a garbage signing in 2017, no serious club makes that transfer. Choosing Bakayoko from that Monaco team is braindead scouting at its absolute worst.

If you saw how Drinkwater and Kante played together at Leicester and given that Conte used a 2 man pivot the transfer kinda made sense in the hope of replicating it again. Just not at that price tho. Also Leicester probably felt that they didn't get full value for Kante especially after Chelsea won the league the season he signed.

Bakayoko was signed to be the legs/cover for Kante.

As you and I both know Chelsea's transfer strategy is crazy. Half the players are signed with the coaches approval I.e he wanted them. Some are signed as a long term business investment to sell later on down the line and some are Roman/Marina doing one way or another. Either they like the player or it's a cheaper option to what the coach asked for. Like what happened with Jose the first time around etc...
