I have no issues with him being interim or whatever but what's with the two year commitment after that? If you wanna hire an interim, hire an interim. This guy would never have been approached for a consultancy role if things were going well for Ole, so why are we making long term commitments to adress short term needs?

A lot of people hyped about this guy but his CV just isn't that impressive to me if we're talking about a guy who is gonna be part of the leadership at Manchester United. What have Leipzig actually really achieved?

The fact that Klopp and Tuchel had success using his methods supposedly don't move the needle for me because my question is, why didn't he manage to achieve the same level of success they did? Just smells like a "when a student becomes the master" type situation to me and obviously, United being United we go for the old master who has long since been shown up by his students. I mean we're getting this guy from Russia for Pete's sake and this interim job will be, by far and away, the biggest role of his LONG ASS, UNEVENTFUL career.

And again, the 3 coaches who failed under Ole (Carrick under Jose too) and were actually in charge or running training and preparing the team tactically will still be at the club also, so how much realistically can be expect to change?

This just smells like another half-assed and rushed decision by United, which if it backfires will look like another obviously bad decsion that should never have been made.

We've been here before with LVG, Jose and Ole. Decisions that when made got everybody excited and with the benefit of hindsight looked like flawed, spontaneous calls.

I wish this guy all the best however I'm not gonna hide the fact that I see a big possibility of this extra 2 year commitment coming back to bite us big time.

 he revolutionized German football.

How is being an innovator an uneventful career. :heh:. You got to be young with this type of nonsense.

I get that but someone said it before, United are very reactionary.

How much thought has gone into this big decision? I'm 99% sure this "consultancy" role was HIS demand as part of the negotiations and the board just said, "Sure, yeah fukk it, okay. Whatever. When can you start?:ehh: "

The same shyt happened with Ronaldo. Don't get me wrong, he has surpassed my expectations but we initially declined the offer to sign him because he was not part of our plans and then, like muggs suddenly moved the moon and stars to get him when City started sniffing. That was such an irresponsible thing to do, not just because we already had Martial, Rashford, Greenwood, Cavani and Sancho (who we chased for 2 years!) but also because we were supposed to get a damn defensive midfielder with that money! and now we're stuck watching one of GOATs playing with mf McFred every week :snoop:

It's being reported Chelsea wanted him and last season as an interim and talks broke down because he wanted something longer term and they weren't prepared to offer it to him. That's what you call leadership. Not the circus we have at United.
You're just clearly desperate to be negative whatever we do.:yeshrug:

The reality is we have no idea how much thought or lack thereof has gone in to this. The idea is that he will be in charge of footballing matters so something like the Ronaldo signing won't be able to happen again, so using that as evidence this is a bad move is just bizarre. He's coming in to fix/avoid the very issues you're complaining about:mjtf:

nikkas really ignorant about Ralf :scust:

Even if you take away the pressing. Rangnick is basically FIFA career mode in human form. Take a lower level club and get them promoted thru the divisions sign unknown cheaper young players and leave the club in a better position with a structure and philosophy.

I get all the talk about Ten Hag, and would be excited if we got him, but people need to slow it down a bit. He's won Dutch leagues and had a run in the CL. Never even properly managed outside of Holland. There's definitely a hipster element in the praise.

Pochettino could win Dutch titles with Ajax let's be honest. He also dragged a stale and stagnating Spurs side to a CL final.

Pochettino on the surface is far more experienced and equipped for the job.(Yeah i know, no trophies blah blah)

It's all about perception, and Poch's star is a little dimmed right now because he's in the PSG circus.

I'd go Mauricio, personally.

I see that. My issue is that I've seen Poch quite closely. So I've seen him do well but also seen his flaws. Ten Hag I haven't seen enough of him close up to say how good he'll be so that means he is more exciting for me. Like I said though, I wouldn't be upset with Poch.

29 is young to some people, I guess.
Mourinho and Wenger both revolutionized the English game when they arrived on the scene too. So that's a bit of a mute point to me because I wouldn't take either at United today.

Just answer these simple questions, please

Why has never managed Bayern, Dortmund or any other notable team in Europe?

Why has he never achieved anything close to the success that Klopp or Tuchel have?

What I find bizzare is, how as United fans we can still be getting swept away by things like this.

Zaha
James Wilson
Januzaj
Mata
LVG
Di Maria
Falcao
Schweinsteiger
Schneiderlin
Depay
Mourinho
Zlatan
Pogba
Mkhitaryan
Sanchez
Lindelof
Matic
Lukaku
Ole
Maguire
Dan James
Telles

All of the above arrived with much fan fare but in the grand scheme of things did little to nothing to change the trajectory of this club over the last 8 years (Not always through fault of their own, especially Pogba and Zlatan).

Let me not derail the hype train though.
Ralf's at the wheel:hubie:

Our boy Dizee had never heard of Rangnick but is a Lars Kornetka superfan:banderas:
No, I just despise the Ole cabal (Carrick, Mckenna and especially Phelan) that much.

With them still there, NOTHING will change. Might as well have kept Ole and saved on £7.5m
