A football fan who racially abused West Bromwich Albion midfielder Romaine Sawyers on social media has been jailed for eight weeks.
Silwood, a West Brom supporter, of Randall Close, was charged following an investigation carried out by PC Stuart Ward, the UK's first dedicated hate crime officer within a football unit.
The post - following West Brom's heavy defeat in January - was made on a "sarcastic" Facebook group titled "Romaine Sawyers - Ballon d'Or"; a reference to the annual award to the world's best player.
Silwood, a steel worker, said he had meant to type that Sawyers should win the "buffoon d'Or".
He claimed a misspelling, of "bafoon", had autocorrected on his device to "baboon".
Look at this demon, one look at him and you just know he's a Stella guzzling, wife bashing, brexiteer, racist.
He really tried the "autocorrect" excuse

Donny has done everything by the book.
Kept his head down, kept his mouth closed, remained professional, came back from his holiday early to put in work during pre-season
Respectfully asked for a loan move to Everton when he sensed he wouldn't play and didn't kick up a fuss when Ole blocked the move last minute.
Ole has been shameful in his treatment of him and the disrepect he showed to a club legend, Edwin van Der Sar who pulled strings to make the deal happen and only asked that United looked after him.
Ole is not only a coward but a liar too and has pushed Donny to his limits.
