It's an interesting idea. It's basically like the international equivalent of the Euro Supercup or the Charity Shield. Except it will only happen once every four years. But I think a lot will depend on the players and how they approach it, if they treat it like it's a glorified friendly then it's not going to catch on with us fans. It’s interesting this is being proposed. FIFA had the Toyota/Intercontinental Cup which was similar to this, but at the club level. UCL winners vs Copa Lib winners. It got disbanded as FIFA decided to grow the club world cup instead.
Some would say this is essentially a mini-WC final in a sense, since all the WC winners have been from South American or Europe.
