"Sequestrer" means "to hold hostage" instead of "to kidnap". It's badly translated and change the whole meaning. Basically their house were robbed while they were there and the criminals held them hostage while it happened.
Regarding the "who", it's most likely crews of robbers/home jackers who target footballers' houses when they play games. It happens all over Europe.

Ok so I read about it and what journos know so far :
- Di Maria's house is an "hotel particulier" in Neuilly which is basically a small building. It was burglarized but his family was not touched as they were in the first floor watching the game. The robbers entered the ground floor through the gym and then they took the elevator to the second floor to rob the safe on which the keys were
- Marquinhos has a house next to his dad's in Chatou and the robbers mistook the houses and went to burglarize his dad's where man was watching the game with Marqui's children.
