You have to give props to Ole.

He not only benches VdB and Pogba but he still doesn't play Mata who put on a show when he came on against West Ham.

He not only decides to play three in the back but sticks Luke Shaw in there while he had Bailly and Tuanzebe on the bench

Man either had huge balls or a serious concussion.

Ole was feeling himself after that display of tactical genius leading to the demolition of West Ham

I get the idea, I think. You play creative wingbacks and then your midfielders are meant to run a whole lot and lock down the middle of the pitch defensively.

On the other hand, they have two creative mids sitting there on the bench and their wingbacks can't create anyway, plus they're leaving gaps open all over the pitch.

Ole should just play one of Mata/McTominay next to VDB/Pogba, and if he doesn't want to run Pogba out there because of Raiola's remarks, that still leaves no excuse for VDB leaving Ajax just to warm the bench while United struggles to create. All the weight of creating is on Bruno, but it doesn't even have to be like that.

I'm tactically naive, but even I think I get that.
