I really don't know the ins and outs of the situation but when you have these guys who are past it and on very high wages, the only way to get rid is to pay apart of their wages and let them play somewhere else. The question is where else does he want to play, where else wants him and how much of his wages are they willing to pay. Not many teams can even pay 30% of his wages, especially if he can't elevate the team on the pitch.
