Stack your team with the world's best midfielders and forwards but neglect the defense brehs :russ:

Aren't like four of his defenders 50 million plus?

What Pep did last two seasons was remarkable. Every team falls off at some point. Congratulations to liverpool

And plenty more will be spent to shore up that defense but it still won't match the depth and quality they have in MF and upfront

What's Pep's excuse this summer when he steps down
  • Injuries
  • Exhaustion
  • Kids going to college soon, needs to spend more time with them
  • Sheikh Mansour not getting Mbappe and Sancho
  • Arteta leaving created an unnecessary distraction
  • VAR
  • Black people
  • Manchester weather
  • He always loved Juventus
  • Not getting Van Dijk
  • Yaya Toure
  • Tory's win

nah

Its year four Pep.

Yup. The intensity of the message is slowly starting to feel repetitive by the players. As the years go by the team becomes more technical and less athletic.

Low-key they need about 7-8 players. 2 CB's, LB, back up keeper and pacy winger for starters. Potential replacements for Cancelo and Sane who I think both will be off. And with Fernandinho most likely gone, they need to find some mobility to beef up the DM position also. If Pep stays, they probably only end up signing a gang of FB's and CM's instead.

In order for Pep to be successful, he needs new starters every 3 years.

They hit on everyone they bought a few years ago except Mendy. He needs fullbacks to be successful.

Yeah. Nowadays in sports the peak performance window is so small for the successful teams, that they have to turnover the squad every couple of years than in previously eras to still keep it fresh. Having the same core for more than 3 years only works if you're actually still winning. Even then, come to year 4-5, the complacency and the mental/physical wear and tear sets in and the previous sustainable levels begin to drop more regularly.

Problem Pep has with the FB's, they need to be half CM and half winger. But you don't find Dani Alves and Alaba types down the back of the sofa and the overall standard of FB's is poor in this era.
