Pogba is not a CDM
. Hes a attacking midfielder if anything
He is the farthest things from a CDM
Busquets, Matic, Scheinderlin are CDMs
Barca got really lucky last year with injures. Most of the teams they ran through had significant injuries.
Now without Neymar they go from unbeatable to very good
He may play a more advanced role this season because vidal is gone but he's not an attacking midfielder. This isnt to say that his offensive prowess hasn't improved greatly. However, he hasn't played that role for juventus, vidal, or France, valbuena. We can argue semantics all day. The fact is pogba is a complete midfielder who is as adept going forward as he playing in front of the defense and shielding them in DM role. In regards to him going to madrid, he would be playing a cdm role where kroos or modric would be.
Here is an article about Chelsea's pursuit of pogba. Mou wants him as DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER
In practical terms, Allegri already has Pogba's replacement in the form of Sami Khedira. (
Whats is sami khedria? Thats right a DM.) And we know how highly he regards Stefano Sturaro. If Beppe Marotta can force Chelsea to part with Oscar in negotiations, he'll also get that elusive No10 he's been seeking. And this is all before returning to the market with over €95 million burning in his pocket.
Plus, given the circumstances of Pogba's defection from United, such a record sale also means virtually pure profit for Juve - which will go down well with the club's financial backers.
At Chelsea, Pogba would arrive as a direct threat to Nemanja Matic (
defensive midfielder) - and probably spell the end of John Obi Mikel's Stamford Bridge career.
For much of last season, Matic was celebrated as among the best holding midfielders in the game. But his performance in the early weeks of this campaign has shown a real lethargy. There's talk inside Cobham that the Serb has become complacent. He's Mourinho's clear No1 in terms of defensive midfield and the lack of competition has dulled his game.
That'll change with Pogba's arrival - who would also put Cesc Fabregas on notice. It's why Mourinho is happy for Abramovich to throw the bank at Juve to get this deal done. The Frenchman can play in a defensive role, but also further forward. His arrival will rock Chelsea's opposition at home and across Europe. But also rattle a few 'too comfortable' cages at home.
