To my UK heads, I understand United and Pool the biggest clubs in England and are akin to Real and Barca to an extent in terms on prestige.

However, I don’t think the two clubs have ever challenged for title at the same time. Definitely not in my lifetime (Prem era).

With Real and Barca in the 2010s it was generally the two of them challenging for the title with a sprinkle of Atletico.

If there was an era where United and Pool actually when 1-2 for the title, would be interested to know…

His shooting stats in his last season at La Real were a slight shave off the prior season where he banged in 17 league goals.

Was he a tad less clinical his last season? Sure. But the talent was there for all who could see.

People some how like to look over the fact that Pepe was a failure and his transfer was well over market price due to some dodgy dealings. So it made Arsenal shook on spending big on potential with no Prem experience.

Let's get this timeline sorted get to the facts.

Jan 22 Arsenal show interest in Isak. Sociedad tell them 75m release clause. Which Arsenal say that's above our valuation. And going off that season why is a team going to spend 75m mid season on a player with only 4 goals and 1 assists at that point in the season?

April/May 22. Arsenal bottle CL spot. Arteta and Edu decide to get to the next step they need proven PL players. So they not only do that but 2 players Arteta has worked with knows the style and what they are trying to do and they've won trophies in England. Isak offers none of that. Arsenal in Jan 23 sign another 2 players with proven PL experience for their title push.

Jesus signs beginning of July 22. Has the whole pre season to integrate with Arsenal. While Isak is still stuck at Sociedad. Mind you there is no one else coming in for Isak probably been put off by the asking price and the fact thst he finished the season with only 6 league goals and 2 assists. And 2 of those 6 goals are from the penalty spot. Isak sign for Newcastle end of August a few days before the end of the transfer window at the lower asking price than what was quoted to Arsenal at the start of the year. Ask Arsenal fans what they hated about the Wenger years over the last decade? Signing players in the last week of August. Arteta and Edu wanted to eliminate thst nonsense from the old regime

If Arsenal never bottled CL place in 21/22 they probably sign Isak Summer 22.
