Based on the current FIFA rankings, the final pots for CAF qualifiers will be

Pot 1: Senegal, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Nigeria

Pot 2: Egypt, Ghana, Cameroon, Mail, DRC

If we get drawn with Egypt we won't qualify but I believe even with our poor play we can still beat Ghana, Cameroon, Mali and DRC.

They should draw the pots quick before we drop in rankings and fall into pot 2
We’ll do anybody in that second pot :camby:

Yes we make it difficult, yes we play down to our opponent’s level way too often but we are consistent when it comes to making it to the WC

Egypt don’t scare me at all :stopitslime: none of them do, if I’m in Pot 1 the team I’m looking to avoid is Mali, I would fancy us and Senegal against them still but they could definitely cause one of the bummy NA teams like Algeria a problem

Already established internationals far different from a non cap player making their debut after 30. He was called up early on in Waistcoats reign 17-18 but withdrew. How many 30+ year old players have made their debuts for France Germany Italy Spain Brasil Holland etc recently?

Sterling and Harolds are Waistcoats favourites. Club form doesnt matter no one is getting picked over those 2 unless their international form dries up completely or injuries. There is only 1 place in attack for about 10 players as it is.

I think you really need to check his availability record especially over the last 5 years because he has been unavailable quite a lot and theyve often coincided with the international window.

Danny Ings who has scored 13 more goals than Antonio has since 19/20 barely gets called up.. The one time he did get called up recently was only because of injuries and hasnt been seen since. DCL has scored more goals than Antonio has over the same period. Whats the point of Antonio getting called up to get about 5 caps for about 60 mins worth of football? He deserves better than that.
Those established internationals were a complete detriment to the England team in their 30s-much like Kane now.
Antonio’s injury history is problematic - fair point. It’s not like Kane has had injury problems though….
Comparing him to DCL and Ings is an unfair comparison. Those guys have out scored him but his work rate and ability to create and defend as well as score, provide a lot more to the England team imo.
You’re final point about caps and minutes is pure conjecture.
We can agree to disagree. To call that view point nonsense is

Its nonsense because Waistcoat prefers young players. It's not that hard to understand. He has a type of profile he likes and Antonio doesn't fit that. If Antonio was 26/27 you would have a point but he's 31 going on 32 in March. It makes no sense to pick him with all the younger talent available unless extremely unfortunate circumstances happen.

These are all the players given their debut under Waistcoat.

1217 Jesse Lingard
1218 Aaron Cresswell
1219 Michael Keane
1220 Nathan Redmond
1221 James Ward-Prowse
1222 Kieran Trippier
1223 Harry Maguire
1224 Harry Winks
1225 Jordan Pickford
1226 Ruben Loftus-Cheek
1227 Tammy Abraham
1228 Joe Gomez
1229 Jack Cork
1230 Dominic Solanke
1231 James Tarkowski
1232 Lewis Cook
1233 Trent Alexander-Arnold
1234 Nick Pope
1235 Ben Chilwell
1236 Jadon Sancho
1237 Nathaniel Chalobah
1238 Lewis Dunk
1239 Callum Wilson
1240 Alex McCarthy
1241 Declan Rice
1242 Callum Hudson-Odoi
1243 Mason Mount
1244 Tyrone Mings
1245 James Maddison
1246 Fikayo Tomori
1247 Phil Foden
1248 Mason Greenwood
1249 Conor Coady
1250 Kalvin Phillips
1251 Jack Grealish
1252 Ainsley Maitland-Niles
1253 Bukayo Saka
1254 Dominic Calvert-Lewin
1255 Reece James
1256 Harvey Barnes
1257 Dean Henderson
1258 Jude Bellingham
1259 Ollie Watkins
1260 Ben Godfrey
1261 Ben White
1262 Sam Johnstone
1263 Patrick Bamford
1264 Emile Smith Rowe
1265 Aaron Ramsdale
1266 Conor Gallagher

Apart from Cork (32) Cresswell (31) who will never get picked again and they were 26-27 at the time of being capped and Trippier (31) no outfield player is over 30 on that list.

International coaches like :flabbynsick: for their experience at that level. A non capped 30+ positional journeyman won't be considered.
If Benzema wasn't an already 80 capped player at international level do you think he would of been called up at 33 if he uncapped. The answer is no. The only countries giving players 30+ international debuts are ones with small talent pools.

Danny Ings has 3 caps. What's to say Antonio is going to have more than him? Why are you going pick Antonio when he's either been missing during the international window or hasn't regained his form and fitness prior to the international window. I've seen plenty of Antonio's types before get capped for England and they either become a 1 cap wonder or if they are extremely lucky do a Ricky Lambert and get to 11 caps and then disregarded.
