This is why I think he’s better as a 10. He needs to be getting the ball further up the pitch so if he loses the ball, we’ve got protection. I hope he can adjust though because he’s clearly a talented player but with the way we can easily lose 5 in a row, he’s going to get scapegoated this season if we underperform.

At the moment he doesn't fit into the best line up/formation. Laca is the best 10 (SS) things would be far less complicated if you could combine Laca and Auba as one to be the #9. We know Arteta ultimately wants to play 433/4141 and Odegaard plays as the right 8 for Norway and iirc he did the same for Sociedad along with playing as the #10. Whoever plays the 10 either as a a SS or as the CAM or if it's a 4411/4222 or 433/4141 ESR has to play on the left flank.
