I don't think anyone at United watched Fred play at Shakhtar.

Nobody properly assessed how Sancho fits into Ole's ideas and definitely nobody saw more than five Ronaldo matches at Juventus over 3 years that he played there (and if they did watch five Juventus matches, they were most likely CL matches).

The issue is compounded by the fact that Ole doesn't have a footballing philosophy so it's not like you can buy specific players for his style of play.
I cant be mad at the Ronaldo deal because United really had no choice there. For a club of that stature, it's unconceivable to let a legend who won a Ballon d'Or with them going to a rival.

I feel like Ronaldo played both Manchester clubs. IMO, CR wanted out of Juve quick and knew United couldnt refuse his service if the fee was reasonable so Mendes and him just used City as leverage to force United's hand.

Man Utd fans really twerking hard for Conte today :mjlol:

They're out here watching Chelsea season reviews :dead:

It's just proof that all they want is a name. Conte would be a disaster eventually. We'll be here in 18-24 months discussing who's going to replace him once he inevitably falls out with the board because they won't spend 20mil to bring back Darmian.

They basically have the players for him to play 3142/343 straight away. Unless he goes back to wanting to try 433 a again. As Conte hasn't really pulled up any trees in the CL with his 3 at the back.

When Bruno gets told me he's a midfielder and has to play like one instead of trying to be a pseudo SS :mjcry:

I disagree on Ronaldo. If he was leaving directly from Manchester United to a rival club I would understand not allowing that but he is two clubs removed from United. And since leaving he's never shown much love for the club, if he did ever say anything nice it was mostly reserved for SAF.

How do you go from chasing a midfielder, Camavinga, for 3 months to signing Ronaldo because 80-year old Fergie and Glazers, eager for any good publicity, urge you to. What kind of transfer policy and club philosophy is that?

I feel like it's common sense that if a 36-year old player is too much of a burden on Juventus in Serie A (where ancient strikers like Luca Toni, Quagliarella, Dzeko and countless others thrive) then it won't work out so well in PL with a McFred midfield. And even if you just look at EUROs you can see that Bruno and even Jota looked pretty bad with Ronaldo as a focal point.

Were Manchester United. Signing Ronaldo does not hinder us from signing a CM or two. Only the owners being tightwads and not understanding ball, stops us from doing that. Ronaldo sells shirts and tickets it’s a no brainer to them. Ronaldo is just an easy scapegoat for folks

we couldn’t press for shyt before him but suddenly it’s all his fault. Folks are just looking for simple answers.

"Ole philosophy".

Ole agreed to them and IIRC said '"this is the best squad since 1999".

If Ole could not see from the jump the problems in getting VdB, Sancho types players playing with AWB, Maguire type players in a unified whole then that is on him.
