Mourinho said he wanted a Brazilian player in a press conference, the scouting department saw that Man City were interested in Fred, then Man Utd as per usual overpaid for him and Jose must've felt sick.I don't think anyone at United watched Fred play at Shakhtar.
Nobody properly assessed how Sancho fits into Ole's ideas and definitely nobody saw more than five Ronaldo matches at Juventus over 3 years that he played there (and if they did watch five Juventus matches, they were most likely CL matches).
The issue is compounded by the fact that Ole doesn't have a footballing philosophy so it's not like you can buy specific players for his style of play.
I was hoping that they had, seeing that they were after him for 2 years.I think we definitely had at least some vague tactical plan to use Jadon, but it went out the window when Ronaldo came in, that was the bigger mistake.
We would have definitely have seen Greenwood up top more, with Sancho on the right I think. I think Greenwood and Cavani would have shared starting upfront. But if you have Ronaldo, he has to play, look at the outcry after the Everton game when he didn't.I was hoping that they had, seeing that they were after him for 2 years.
But I'm afraid it was more of him being universally rated, able to play on the right and most importantly English (meaning you can just send him out there and not worry about style of play).
Gary is having a mare today but he's always been pretty consistent in not calling for managers to be sacked, regardless of the club in question. People are only jumping on it solely because it is his mate.these pundits always stick up for their friends, stuck up for lampard and now trying to for ole.
Give the manager more time because when some of them were managers they were awful and got sacked
Not sure if these were posted yesterday
Why not throw Paul Ince into the mix?
…
A message:
”From someone who has been right before: he thinks he’s sacked. Glazers 5 hrs behind so you’d expect nothing today while they sort the exit out. Possibly tomorrow though.”
Dont know who this guy is who has been right before but I trust the guy who has told me it. And strangely, they came unprompted rather than the normal way of responding to a request for comment.
My opinion is that neither Fred nor McTominay as bad as they look. They make mistakes that can be coached out of them. Especially Fred. I’m willing to bet he’d look a way different player under a manager like GuardiolaWasnt Fred a 6 at Shakthar ? Why is McTominay prefered there ?
And if they are both 8s, why not trying for Ndidi who's a pure defensive 6 ?
Careful what you wish for
He will light these players up. Imagining him chasing Martial around Carrington with a frying pan right now
Martial will just sleep around with another PAWG and get in a row with his wife and get time off for mental health reasons.
Only player that can't press is Ronaldo, everyone else is more than capable. Ole is to blame for awful press that's been on display his entire tenure.Too much Ole blame. That team is built horribly. It's a super team on paper but that's about it. Can't press. They don't stretch teams.
Solskjaer names three Manchester United players improving their pressing
Man Utd are perfecting a more intense attacking approach on their pre-season tour and their pressing helped them beat Inter Milan in Singapore.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer singled out Jesse Lingard for his pressing as Manchester United continue to perfect a more intense attacking approach.
Lingard started in a front four with Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Daniel James in the friendly win over Inter Milan in Singapore that United dominated through their high-tempo attack.
The United attacking quartet pushed so high up the pitch they were on the edge of Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic's area whenever he had a goal kick and Solskjaer hopes United maintain such high energy levels when the competitive campaign commences.
"We're getting better and better, definitely," Solskjaer said. "We've had three weeks now in pre-season working on the intensity and pressing in training.
"We've got players who like to press on the front foot. I don't know how many times Jesse won the ball for us but he's one of the best ones in that pressing football and Marcus is also very good at it. And you saw Anthony working hard to win a few balls for us as well so that's the way we hope to continue.
