Sounds like the same line of thinking that bore such fruity gems as, staging EURO 2020 across multiple cities, expanding the champions league to 64 teams, group stages for fukking EVERYTHING, merging every other cup besides the European Cup into one screwball fukkwit cup called the Europa League, and having a European Super League.

I just thought it'd improve the competition. It doesn't have to be massive like what CL will become.

Copa America needs more teams though. 2016 Copa America will have 16 teams.

It would probably have the opposite effect on competition I reckon. Copa Libertadores is already the most prestigious cup in SA. Don't really see the incentive to add some US and Mexican teams to the pot.

Copa Libertadores is already 38 teams. Bump that up to 62 teams it would create a logistical nightmare, but I guess it would be cool somewhat?
