Some of those big teams need personality just as much as coaching ability. I'm not sure Emery suits even though he's a really good coach.

I keep hearing that, but what current players at United, Spurs or Chelsea have the game to match their “personality.” Players like Grealish, Rashford, are saying they want to play for Emery

Do y’all think Emery could ever coach a “big” team again? Arsenal fans didn’t like him but I think we need to recognize he is a great coach. He seems to have gotten better as a coach since we had him. He seems better than the Chelsea, Spurs, and United coaches TBF

I think if he has patient ownership that accepts he needs 2-3 years to lay the foundation, then yes

Problem is, that rules out chelsea, Man U, tottenham, , and the bluebloods outside of england, like Bayern Munich, Barca, Juventus, PSG, the Milan teams, etc

Ironically if for some reason Arteta left and Emery came back to Arsenal, I think hed get it right this time

Emery loses the elite/top top players with information overload. You can get away with it younger players or the good solid pros like John McGinn or someone like Watkins whose had to work for everything he has achieved starting out at the lower leagues.

The issue with Emery teams they have a level of chaos to them that is acceptable for Sevilla Villarreal Villa. But isn't sustainable for the top teams. His teams get too involved in shootout type of games or they have to keep on giving teams a couple goals leads which was the case at Arsenal. For a good/respected coach his teams defensive structure is flawed.

The current players are clearly shyt and not required for the level. And the personality isnt necessarily for the players.

Nah, 4th-10th is his level because he's too much of a tactician and not a politician. Pep, Carlo, Slot, Arteta, and managers of that caliber all have an understanding that playing the PR game is just as important as the results on the field.

I mean look at Arsenal, you can't tell me that the Amazon documentary hurt. The club and the manager all understood it's importance.

For Grealish is it Emery or is it Villa? Grealish would say he would play for Agbonlahor if it means he gets back to Villa.

Yeah i didnt mean that to diminish him, Im saying he was a GOAT-caliber talent, but feels like you need a Ballon D'or (and likely a WC) to get to that level where youre stamped the way he shouldve been.

Neymar has something like 440 career goals, a UCL, and multiple league titles. Henry doesn't have one and NO ONE would front like he's not one of the greatest players ever. Neither does Zlatan or Philip Lahm or Maldini, or Xavi or Iniesta or Pirlo. You gotta write the last decade to 15 years off due to Messi/CR7 dominance. There's loads that didn't win but that doesn't mean they aren't goat level.

He's an all time great player. But his obsession with his sister and not staying in shape kept him from the Messi/CR7/R9 echelon of player.

Henry won UCL with Barca.

I think Neymar doesn’t get enough credit for his Copa Lib win with Santos before he went to Barca

A Spanish team knocked us out that season.

Will history repeat itself? Find out next time on Dragon ball Z.

apparently a spanish team has knocked us out (in the K.O. phase) every year since we won in 2017

Including that Villarreal final :picard:
