You're undervaluing the impact of Bernardo's defensive work and what it brings to the team in the big games. He can lead the press or sit in next to Rodri and win the ball with intercpetions/deflections. Or he can fill in gaps when others attack. He keeps the ball recycles the ball and creates spaces for others which are the most important element of Pep's style.

I think they are going to bring in permanently the CC style ref announcements right after VAR decisions are made, so they might tread a bit more carefully if they have to give an explanation that's complete bullshyt to the whole crowd.
