My mind says Lara but my heart says Canelo.

Lara is the better fighter but Canelo has that X factor where you never really know what he capable of. He could pull something out of his hat and shock us all.

I'm going with Lara as he's the superior boxer and might be able to win similarly to how Floyd won. His performance against Trout was spectacular and he handled Angulo well despite leaving his chin unprotected twice. Canelo's performance against Angulo didn't impress me as much as how befuddled I felt about Angulo's performance and physical appearance. He was either drained, fighting with an injury, or just wasn't it. That said, I'm not sure it's a given that Canelo is one of the elite at this time.

On another note, real talk brehs, true story, I had a dream that Canelo stopped Lara in the 4th round. I woke up that morning like WTF? Cuz I'm rooting for Lara, and I believe he should win, but that dream has me second guessing myself just a little bit.

WBA 'regular' junior welterweight champion Erislandy Lara (19-1-2, 12KOs) does not believe Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (43-1-1, 31KOs) is on his level. They are going to clash this coming Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The fight will headline a four fight card on Showtime Pay-Per-View.

Lara has chased after Canelo for over a year. Now he has him. The Cuban boxer wants to prove that his country produces a higher quality of fighters in comparison to the boxers coming out of Mexico.

They have two common opponents, with Canelo doing far better against Alfredo Angulo and Lara dominating Austin Trout, who nearly defeated the Mexican star last April.

"Originally I thought he would never take the fight because I confronted him in person and he said, 'No this is not how you make fights.' Then after the fans saw that he was ducking me on Twitter, he had no choice but to be a man and take the challenge. [Beating Canelo] means everything to me. For me to demonstrate to the world that I'm not just better than him, but that I'm 150 percent better than him, means everything to me. Like I said before, I'm going to take him to Cuban school," Lara said.

Canelo Alvarez: We'll See Who Takes More Left Hands!
Posted by: Miguel Rivera on 7/5/2014 .

By Miguel Rivera

Former champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (43-1-1, 31KOs) is brushing off the big talk from WBA 'regular' junior middleweight beltholder Erislandy Lara (19-1-2, 12KOs), who faces the Mexican superstar on Saturday night as the main event of a Showtime Pay-Per-View from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Lara has promised to "take Canelo to the Cuban school of boxing" when they step in the ring. Canelo believes he will eventually figure Lara out and put him away to get the victory.

"I've never had problems with southpaw fighters. I've had sparring sessions with southpaw fighters, so I will not have any problems. I've prepared for Lara's style and we're going to prove a lot of things in the ring. Every opponent is different. The Cuban can say whatever he wants, I don't care. I'm not going to fall into Lara's game by responding to him. We'll wait until July 12th to see who takes more left hands," Canelo vowed.
