We bringing up fighters health.. this is why Pernell, Money May fought the way they did

And casuals wanna call fighters like that boring I mean well damn, I'd rather be boring than 'entertain' you for a few years before catching brain damage

Mayweather at 38 took Manny PEDman Pacquiao to school
In comparison at 38, Ali was ruined.. SPIRIT was the only thing keeping him going :mjcry: his fight against Larry Holmes is one of the saddest things I've ever watched. :flabbynsick: took mercy on him towards the end, other fighters would have made that situation even uglier than it was (thats just another reason why :flabbynsick: is top 5 heavyweights all time :wow: )

Fans speak on the health risks in boxing but at the same time criticise defensive fighters fighting style.. makes 0 sense

Now in terms of not fighting tough opponents all the time.. I'd like to say I agree but I know its Danny cherry picker garcia fans saying this  This guy needed a tune up to get that work from Thurman now it looks like hes having another tuneup just to potentially get ran out the gym by Porter. What a waste of time :scust: . Just come and get that work on the Mayweather undercard and leave with a very nice paycheque

I keep :mjlol: whenever people bring up brook's fight night/ walking weight to convince themselves this wasn't a mismatch:pachaha:
Dude was getting lifted off his feet with those shots

Brook was lifting that natural middleweight too

nikka literally got his prime ended. Brook is now foid both eyes fukked up. nikka ate his way up to 160 then tried to fight at 147 and got stopped again. He need to cashout at 154 against Cotto or something.

He needs to cash out vs Kahn, easy for a mega fight to happen at Wembley. Problem is Kahn is a deluded diva who thinks hes bigger and better than what he really is. This man really thinks hes the A side over Kell Brook :francis:

On the flipside of the argument that we should give STAR fighters a break when it comes to regularly taking on tough opposition...the alternative is to place them against overmatched opponents, who themselves can get seriously hurt when placed in these mismatches that they have no business in.

I brought this up before, the only time you really hear people pretend to care about "fighter health" is when it's a star fighter that's asked to take on tough challenges...nobody cares about the journeymen/fringe contenders that are placed in mismatches to make star fighters/prospects look good. And they've ALWAYS got it the worse when it comes to debilitating injuries in boxing. And oftentimes don't have the money to cover medical expenses. You can't claim to care about "fighter health" and then co-sign mismatches. The chances of injuries and fighters getting "hurt" in boxing decline when elites face elites.

But constant heavy sparring and training camps to prepare for "championship level" opponents do take their toll on the body. I would bet Toney's issues are more due to having spar-heavy camps his whole career to stay in shape as a substitute for drills & roadwork.

But all this stuff comes with the territory like Floyd say...it's the hurt business :manny:

Everybody know the risks when they step in between them ropes...you can't half-ass it, and be worried about your health and all that shyt if you gonna choose that lifestyle...you in the wrong business if you are.

This is precisely why PRO boxing should only be for folks that had no other outlets or options in life.

I was against that Salka fight too :manny: n back then i wadnt that critical about nikkas safety as i am now. Youre right it is the hurt business but when you know nikkas families n you starting to see the toll shyt is taking on nikkas I guess I started looking at shyt differently. N you're right the jobbers got it worse than the top level guys in regards to that. Aint shyt we can really do about is just how the sport is all I can do is change how I look at shyt if a nikka just hard a hard fight or against a puncher im okay w taking a soft touch after. Media gonna media though esoecially if its a black fighter.

The only thing that can save a boxer is a good team, financially, mentally and emotionally. Professional athletes in general have this problem.

Shorter careers?

Less fights?

It's a tough call, it's case by case though I'd wager that the day you turn 30, start looking for an exit plan because sooner than later, you're gonna start slowing down and the chances of getting hurt begin to multiply.

We've seen guys get ktfo, cold... Then become world champions by beating top tier champions. We've seen guys deteriorate for no real reason except, it's their time.

Now, as fans, we're expected to want great fights and there's nothing wrong with that. As long as there's an understanding that our opinions can be detrimental to a fighter's health

Mike Tyson doesn't share the same sentiment about him :mjpls:

Mike>George Foreman

But shoutout to Wilder for trying to make the Ortiz fight happen tho:salute:. That would be a great fight and a true test to see where both fighters at.

Tyson was shook of a washed up Foreman....no way was he better than a prime, demonic Foreman.

Boxing/Promoters are really dropping the ball on the heavyweight division. I guess they forgot how to promote these guys. You have the type of parity and matchups there that could get some mainstream success. This can be the money division that it's suppose to be.

Think of what a tournament could do for the division. Not only would you have the actual fights, but the audience would get a change to know these guys.
