It's desperation and a serious gamble. The new subscriptions have been piss poor. DAZN and Perform Group are bleeding money (a little under a quarter billion dollar operating loss combined). The DAZN chairman (Skipper) just came out today and is warning that they may need to raise the monthly subscription price in the near future. There's rumblings that Access Industries are going to sell both off.
It's a gamble but it's a move I can respect, and it's a move that needed to be done if they wanted any chance to succeed. If you're gonna succeed you better come with some fire power. And DAZN has it now. They got the biggest star in boxing. A guy who brings guaranteed action fights. You watch a canelo fight, you know you're gonna be entertained. Regardless of opponent.

I'ma canelo stan but they definitely overpaid him. He probably wasn't getting anywhere close to that from any other company. So it's no surprise he jumped on it. Oscar knows he was overpaid. Canelo knows it. And most importantly DAZN knows it. They aren't stupid. This was them betting on themselves and I gotta respect the balls. If they maneuver correctly this can turn into the greatest move in boxing history. Just takes the right fights and the right fighters. With canelo being the money fighter in the sport they're not only gonna attract more subscribers, they're gonna attract more big time fighters to their platform. If they manage to land both canelo-ggg 3 and Joshua-wilder, they could really become the new boxing powerhouse. With HBO bowing out, that crown is up for grabs right now. Anybody can take it. But this move right here let's us know DAZN is not fukking around. They're trying to drop heads.

Deontay Wilder Reacts To Canelo Signing With DAZN – Shows Genuine Contempt For Eddie Hearn

Deontay Wilder Reacts To Canelo Signing With DAZN – Shows Genuine Contempt For Eddie Hearn

WBC heavyweight champion of the world Deontay Wilder has given his thoughts on what he thinks about boxing’s biggest star Canelo Alvarez leaving the pay per view model and joining streaming subscription service DAZN as the platform continues to gain momentum.

Wilder is currently preparing for his upcoming challenge against Tyson Fury in LA on December 1st.

Speaking to Tha Boxing Voice Deontay Wilder said of Canelo signing to DAZN:

“For me, my personal opinion with it is whatever works for them works for them. They’ve got their own team and their going to operate how they want to. They want to go to the head people, I think that’s a good idea just to go straight to the head people and not deal with middlemen. If they going to do something you go straight to the people. Whatever he wants to do good for him, it’s his career and his life. I wish all fighters the best as I know how hard it is to do this.”

He added:

“No I’m not (going to get DAZN). I don’t think I need that app. I like Canelo as a fighter but I don’t keep up with him like that. So it wouldn’t do me no good to get that app. Eddie Hearn has p***** off a lot of people man. It ain’t nothing to do with DAZN but because they affiliated with Eddie Hearns it makes it bad. It’s like you can get 99 people with great vibes and you have that one bad apple right there (Eddie Hearn), that loud mouth, the arrogant one, the one that’s causing commotion and because of that one person – I don’t want to fukk with ya’ll. Vecause of that motherf***** (Eddie Hearn) right there. “

Eddie Hearn had nothing to do with Canelo signing to DAZN, the deal is totally separate with Golden Boy but the above, more than anything, shows just how much Wilder actually hates Hearn.

"But... Hearn :scusthov:"

He won't watch Canelo on DAZN because of Hearn :mjlol: talking about irrational hating
Wilder needs to grow up :pachaha:

Res out of the reasons I can see why ppl dont like DAZN, the hearn tie in reason is by far the stupidest one ive heard

yeah like how can you be so bitter that you don't watch Canelo fights anymore cause he is working on the same app who employs a promoter you don't like who btw works independently from Canelo.
That's some childish shyt.

The whole fad nowadays about Hearn being the villain in boxing is corny as hell, just like the "Haymon is the villain" fad was corny a few years back. Boxing is a grey area there are a few to no nice guys in it and even those few are mostly fighters who are taken advantage on and not promoters, networks executives and managers.

Yeah these guys are all locked on the card except Hemphill whose an AM - NOLA fighters, Prograis made sure it’s NO talent on there. Not sure is there 9 bouts or 5 bouts but I’m sure you’ll see at least Zereaux who fought on the ESPN+ portion of that Pacquaio Mattyshe Prograis “card.”

Interestingly Yigit whose in the tourney is holding camp at NOBC & sparring with JohnBoy.

IMO, Zereaux is the best one he’s 6’1 at 135. Even BoMac and Crawford took note.

Hearn is phony and he stringed him along. You wouldnt call that nygga childish to his face. Any of the Canelo groupies celebrating his contract wouldnt. Wilder isn't doing a cherry pick after Ortiz like Canelo is with this unknown. Hes fighting the guy who beat Klitscho.
