After the Hunger Games thread, and the suggestion to make a literary thread, I will go ahead and make that damn thing.

I will toss out a few of my favorite books/series and we can see how this grows(if it does of course).

Dark Tower series is spectacular, and that is just the core 7 books, not even the 30 or so other books connected to it.

I enjoy the Sookie Stackhouse books even if they are not all that good.

Kids series are fun to read for light reading at the very least.
Harry Potter
Artemis Fowl
Alex Rider
Percy Jackson

All good/fun series to just let your mind wander off after reading something more heavy such as Guns, Germs and Steel which while a great read is not the most fun thing to read.

And off we go with the thread. Discuss books, maybe set up a book club or something. Who knows.

I've just finished reading The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach and thought it was pretty good for a debut novel.

Currently reading The Monk by Matthew Lewis.

I also recommend the Toni Morrison's Song of Solomon, which I take my user name from, for those interested in African American lit.

I was a big fan of Stephen King (still am) and a few months ago I read The Stand. :snoop: That was the second worst Stephen King book I ever read, Gerald's Game being the first, man just an all around disappointment. It builds nice but towards the end it completely falls apart. After I found out the villain in the Darktower series is the same one from The Stand I've been apprehensive about getting into those.

Right now I'm trying to go through the Song of Fire and Ice series but the books are brutally simple. It's keeping my interest cause the details of the mad king are what I was looking for. I also like how they call the guy Kingslayer. I watched the first two season so I know it gets better.

I'm down for the book club.
