I rewatched the first season of The O.C for the first time after it aired and I forgot how much drama is in every ep. My memory was that a big thing would happen maybe every third eps and the two inbetween would be them solving the problems that happened in that ep. I'm also shocked how well it has aged. My only big critique watching season 1 something like 13 years later is that storylines wrap up to fast. Luke's Dad being gay was an issue for maybe 2 eps, Anna says she's leaving and leaves in the same ep, Julie Cooper working for Newport Company was in 2 eps. the Oliver storyline should've been longer and more subtle and so on.

Best best first season of any TV teen drama but by season 3 it fell on its face - hard.

One of the best themes of all time in the sense it matches the vibe of the show really well.

It's definitely up there. But I do think it has competition from other Teen Dramas (i.e. "Gossip Girl" [From the same creator/showrunners who did "The O.C.], "Veronica Mars", FNL, TVD) for that top Season 1 spot since it aired.
