The NXT Women’s Championship will now be referred to as the NXT Championship

WWE has issued an internal decree that going forward, the WWE NXT Women's Championship will be referred to and described as simply the "NXT Championship", PWInsider.com has confirmed. The decision was made to make the remove the gender-specific designation of the championship.

This past week on WWE Backstage, Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch discussed her belief that WWE should stop referring to the women's division as such and just present everything, male or female, as just wrestling, believing that the history had been made and it was time to present things in a more progressive fashion.

WWE's change in how the NXT division will refer to the championship, currently held by Rhea Ripley, is obviously the first step in that direction, but there is no word yet whether Raw or Smackdown will be following suit.

So they are co-Champions.

No, one is the champion of the women and the other of the men.





Unless there are going to be Inter-gender matches regularly you need that distinction for many reasons.

They tried so hard to get rid of the term Divas and they bushed the Divas Title, they bring back the Women’s Title and now the term “Women’s” is a bad thing?

I'm in favor of eliminating "women's division" as a descriptor for matches. You can tell by who is in the match what kind of match it is.

But dropping women's from champion? Makes no sense.

I was with them on this until this thread happened.

Why don't they just call the other one the NXT Men's Champion

I still don't understand the name NXT. It doesn't even stand for anything. If it's supposed to be a trendy way to say "Next", then that's even stupider because NXT is no longer developmental
