anti-Semitic --- no. Anti-Zionist agenda, anti fed reserve,anti Israeli lobbyist and settlements--- Yes.

deeply racist --- I mean if by racist, saying that races is more than a social construct then yes. Saying that they hate other races just because they aren't black is just grossly inaccurate. They do recognize groups that have attempted to destroy blacks.

nothing surprising tbh. a lot of people misunderstand black nations. even black people who are considered conscious don't know the reality behind some of the things they teach. One can actually go further and say members of the NOI don't even understand some of the things Elijah taught. When one doesn't have the understanding they'll usually on face value say the things listed above(racist, anti semitic, anti gay etc).

You can just tell from some of the people posting here that they have never been to NOI meeting or event. While I dont agree with the NOI philosphy regarding Islam(grew up sunni muslim) they teach black people self worth of oneself. Like another poster said they are anti-zionist, not anti-Judaism, alot NOI preachers state the only way to know Islam is to understand it thru judaism. There are many people of other ethnicities in NOI( at least the Chicago branch, chicanos, bangledeshis, etc..), and realistically the are anti-gay, because it threatens the black family structure, so Im with them when they right.

NOI are ok by me, I've long admired some of their policies and attitudes.

I always found it amusing that the NOI's contact here in the UK at one point was the National Front, a deeply racist white orgainisation.
