I don't know why Naruto had to go south. I've been spending hours going back looking at videos, reading these chapters and although the story had continuity, I actually think it would have been better if everything was less predictable. Although the whole alien space monster thing COULD make sense I would have preferred if the actual members of Akatsuki used small neighboring countries with unseen talented bloodline limit powers were used.
