A guy at io9 took all of the ratings from Rotten Tomatoes and came up with these two lists of the 6 most critically acclaimed and 6 most critically reviled movies of all time. The results were a bit of a shock.

MOST CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED

1. Seven Samurai

2. 12 Angry Men

3. Sanjuro

4. Rashomon

5. Yojimbo

6. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

MOST CRITICALLY HATED

1. Surviving Christmas

2. Police Academy 5

3. Epic Movie

4. Superman IV: The Quest for Peace

5. Brother's Justice

6. Disaster Movie

Got an awful lot of Kurosawa on that critically acclaimed list.:ehh: And I didn't even realize anyone took the time to review Police Academy 5.

I can't bring myself to watch old movies. I know that I'm most likely missing out but I just can't bring myself into that state of mind of turning something black and white on and not automatically being bored. I was forced to watch "some like it hot" in film class one time and actually enjoyed it, though.

:stopitslime:4/5 are black and white :camby:

We need an updated list.

 Kurosawa influenced basically every successful film director in the 1970s and largely shaped movies as we know them today.

Star Wars was essentially an American remake of the Hidden Fortress set in space.

The Kurosawa shade in this thread, I can't...

But seriously 4 Akira movies and the magnum opus of Akira's biggest fan?:skip:

Honestly, Fistful of Dollars >> Yojimbo.
