On KRS One's nose, eating sunflower seeds.
1. West is a classy guy, decorum mattered and furthering the game was the boldface.

2. Social media didn’t exist to the masses, so therefore second by second public ignorance by the casual fans was non-existent. Now we have current and ex-players killing the notion of, “players know the game better than outsiders”, due to pure stupidity, favoritism or being on a payroll to push agendas and GOAT campaigns. People like Jerry exist, they just are muffled or don’t care to speak in the game because the culture of today is, “wrong is right, and right is wrong”. The main culprits are

Skip Bayless
Stephen A.
Gil
JJ Redikk
Barkley
Draymond
Shaq
And today’s players who don’t know the history of the game.

We can add many more to the list, but unfortunately the culprits are Black players and Black media who help control and carry out the NBA narratives.

There's also a curiosity and love for the game present in that clip that's 100% missing today. It's very clear Shaq does not watch basketball outside of what little he pays attention to during a TNT broadcast. Same with Charles. On the flip side for all the "plumber" talk it's clear Reddikk didn't watch an ounce of old NBA footage beyond whatever Jordan/Dr J/etc highlights he found with a half ass youtube search. There's no real love for the game as an ever changing, never ending story that each athletes plays a role in.

There's also no room for nuance or real discussions or real debates. And it's never coming back. The profit incentives for media (television, social media, etc) dictate that the louder you yell bullshyt, the more people click play. Hell...how many podcasts have you first heard of based on some former NBA/NFL/etc athlete being in a clip saying something insane about sex or body fluids or women or whatever else. That's how these pieces of shyt introduce themselves to audiences now, rather to throw on a nice suit while thoughtfully discussing the next generation of players. It's wild.

That was a very class response by Jerry West

I think the most underrated aspect about the 96-98 Bulls is that they were early adopters/exploiters of multiple modern day schemes, including the stretch 4 option (Kukoc at the 4), small ball (Rodman at the 5), point-forward (Scottie) and an off ball offense that arguably helped influence the Warriors offense.

That they could go from an old school big defensive lineup of Harper/Jordan/Pippen/Rodman/Longley
to a Kerr/Jordan/Pippen/Kukoc/Rodman floor spacing lineup, that was ahead of the curve. They weren't the only team that had such innovations (obviously Horry at the 4 for the '95 Rockets and Sam Perkins as a stretch 5, etc) but it's cool lookin back at how much of it CHI had.

Yea, there's absolutely a level of insincerity by the older guys fueled by jealously. They feel a type of way seeing a niche role player get a 5 year contract that eclipses their entire career earnings.

On the flipside, podcasting and social media -specifically, going "viral"- opens up money avenues for the recently retired players in the Gilbert Arenas/JJ Reddikk age group. So saying wild ish or co-signing other wild-ish said by their contemporaries takes priority over proper discourse.

I'd say the best podcaster out is Jeff Teague because he doesn't take himself too seriously but he's actually very thoughtful and articulate with his basketball points. Even if you don't agree with him you'll be like yea, the logic is sound.

Bron never played his natural.
So the only part of your comparison that was similar was tragic magic.

Plus never won the nba title on his first trip like Magic.
Plus unlike Oscar.
Osar won an nba title and did not trade away the help in lew.

Whereas lebron traded away the most pedigreed backcourt in nba history

Sohh like I said
Lebron = Elgin baylor 2.o

Same thing as lebron at forward.
The best and most influential player of a generation.

Just like elgin baylor. That lost with a super team.
just like elgin baylor, Jerry west and wilt chamberlain.
