Aside from All In, gate money is barely a drop in the bucket compared to media money now. They are making nearly $4 million a week on that media deal. Their 4th largest grossing event ever "only" drew $1.3 million. Obviously you want to maximize revenue though regardless, but even on the old media contract, live gate at their peak was nowhere close to what the media money was. This would be a bigger deal if they were dependent on advances like they used to be but for more than a year the first day sales aren't the end all be all for AEW so I kinda get taking this "risk".
We'll see if having only a couple of months in advance to sell and promote a PPV will works or not though.
I guess I phrased that wrong. I wasn't trying to say that AEW was dependent on live gate, I was trying to say that they ticket sales were mostly coming from first day/first week sales, so booking venues and shows in advance worked for them. Nowadays they sell a lot of tickets in the last 2 weeks before a show so saving the dates and venues to avoid getting countered by the bigger and much hotter promotion makes more sense now than if they did it 12 months ago.Aside from All In, gate money is barely a drop in the bucket compared to media money now. And for all but PPVs they run smaller venues so it’s not like they necessarily need several months of lead time to get a crowd that looks or sounds good on TV. And ones that are more midsize are being scaled to fit the size of crowds AEW is drawing.I guess I phrased that wrong. Speaking of All In, where are they with ticket sales? And is it announced where SNME will be that night?Aside from All In, gate money is barely a drop in the bucket compared to media money now. I haven’t seen an update in forever and I got rid of Twitter sometime in 2024 so can’t look it up anymore.Speaking of All In, where are they with ticket sales? And is it announced where SNME will be that night?
The pettiness if that shyt is in American Airlines Arena

They are at 11k sold tickets and are running a small set up of 18k, which is basically half the venue. You can see the seats that are not on sale in gray.
It's basically what everyone would've guessed to be honest. AEW shocking everyone by booking a venue no one thought they should've and getting amazing sales is not something that happens anymore.
I just hope they get enough people in the building and smart people in production to not make it look sad or 2nd rate on TV.

Yeah, I think a more realistic goal for a best case scenario is 20-22k paid and 3-5k comps to make it look presentable on TV.They need to get at least 25k there to look decent.
Still alot of time, so I expect sections opening
Yeah, they've shown to sell more tickets in the last 6 weeks of big shows since last year. Will they get 9k more? I hope so.The setup will change if they sell close to the 18k.. I'd say selling 11k is fine considering the show is months away and not a single match has been announced. This is certainly something that TK needs to work on. We can see that most likely a match on there will be Okada vs. Omega so wouldn't now be the time to start teasing that more and more and then announce it?
This also hinges on what WWE does because we all know that that SNME's gonna be a Wrestlemania like showYeah, I think a more realistic goal for a best case scenario is 20-22k paid and 3-5k comps to make it look presentable on TV.
