Hell yeah it's innovative! The few abilities I got so far are just so creative that it makes me wonder why other games don't allow this level of interactivity in their world. Like, I'm just moving around and the level of freedom you get in this game is unparalleled coupled with the fact that the things I didn't like about BOTW are remedied in this. Like just being able to literally ascend through a mountain or roof to come out the other side is genius-level design.

I didn't really enjoy BOTW that much(felt it was like a 7/10) but Idk what clicked in this one that makes me enjoy playing it. It's like you feel like a child in a huge playground with toys and it's like there's literally a whole garage full of toys that I haven't even seen yet(I'm not even off of the tutorial island. If the rest of the game(boss battles, dungeons, narrative, towns/npcs and hidden areas) are as chock full of shyt to do then this game may very well not only the greatest zelda game of all time but arguably the best Nintendo game of all time and in general.

any specifics re: what you didn’t like in BOTW that’s fixed/different in TOTK?

You’re still in the first island like 20 hours in? I spent a few hours up there and got out - too much space to explore to be confined to one area.
Nah I haven't put in 20 hours lol. I've probably played maybe ~2 hours total? I've just been messing around.

Well I've heard that there are traditional dungeons in this so that alone was my biggest gripe with BOTW. The other things I didn't really like are still here but I must've gotten past it(the more mellow tone of the world and it's ambiance.)

When I think about it I didn't really dislike BOTW it was just that I was stuck with rose-tinted glasses remembering how great OOT was but in reality, that game is so basic compared to even BOTW.

The new abilities though are so cool that it allows for way more things to do that you couldn't do in BOTW which I guess piques my interest enough. Also it helps I'm playing this at 4K.

Ain't nothing wrong with that. He's building up his foundation. He gonna need it later.

Although I think BOTW is a masterpiece, I know it has areas that will piss some gamers off and even turn them away from completing. Number one: Weapon degradation. Number two: Open empty space. They get lost and don't know what to do. They lack structure because they lack imagination. Tears of the Kingdom fixes their first issue with Fuse and the second issue. I haven't even played the game yet and I know its gonna be a masterpiece.

I don’t mind spoilers re: weapons/abilities…what is fuse and how will it help against weapon degradation?

Where Tears of the Kingdom Fits in the Timeline

Skyward Sword

The Zonai/Hyrulian Royal Family from ToTK

ToTK is Demise first incarnation of Ganondorf

He gets sealed by ToTK characters. (ToTK Mural)

Minish Cap, Four Swords, then Ocarina of Time

OoT has a 2nd incarnation of Ganon

Timeline Splits (Downfall, Adult Link, Young Link)

Timeline Merges (This is called a Dragon Break)

Sometime later is Calamity Ganon (BOTW Mural)

10,000 Years Later Age of Calamity Spin-Off

100 Years later is BOTW

5 years later is TOTK with events described post-Skyward Sword, first incarnation of Ganondorf with Zonai from first Hyrule and BOTW Zelda who goes back to Zonai Hyrule and comes back to ToTK as Dragon Zelda

Not confusing at all. :mjlol:

It's easy to lose time doing mundane tasks like movement and traversal.
(No spoilers)

Bruh wtf you building

:mjlol:

Edit: just watched the video and saw that those were fans, I thought those were wheels on the back lol

I'm gonna be building so much dumb shyt this game. nikkas are gonna go wild.

How you finding the building tools? Does it feel shallow or is there a lot of depth and experimentation in them? It's the one thing I've been unsure about since I saw it.

I've only been playing with the portable fans and just attaching them to carts and other objects. it's pretty cool. I'm sure it can be much more complex later on as I know in the trailer I saw moving vehicles. It feels like it has a lot more depth because physics are in play so you can't just slap a fan on something with the weight not being distributed equally or else it'll just topple over.
