This is the 20th anniversary Trails title. Launches in 2024 in Japan meaning probably 2026 at the earliest in the west. Keeps us 2 mainline titles behind minimum. Sounds like it's going to get into the truth of the "world" as referenced at the end of Cold Steel 4 around the McBurn fight.

“In the year 120X, everything comes to an end.”

C. Epstein, the father of the orbal revolution, prophesized the end of the Zemurian continent.

As “X Day” approaches, a massive orbal rocket is about to be launched from a large military base built in the Kunlun Range.

“Can man make it past the planet’s atmosphere?”

“What lies at the end of the continent?”

“Will mankind be able to uncover the true nature of the ‘world’?”

While the whole world watches to witness the largest undertaking since the dawn of history, somewhere in the singularity that is Ored, forces from all over the land were about to gather, including a young “Spriggan.”

Will the single trail toward the distant heavens ultimately shape the future of Zemuria, or…

Acclaimed for its elaborate worldbuilding and epic storyline, the Trails series has sold over 7.5 million copies.

The story of the Zemurian continent—which began with The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, and has continued through Trails from Zero, Trails to Azure, Trails of Cold Steel, Trails into Reverie, and Trails through Daybreak—is set to take a dramatic turn in the 20th anniversary title The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki – Farewell, O Zemuria.

from what I recall kuro was supposed to be 3 games. The fact they are changing the name to something else must mean kuro 2 must have flopped really hard in Japan.

The synopsis mentions Van by all but name so this is probably Kuro 3 retitled.

Basically. Also...

:skip:
Of course its the ideal entry point its the first game in the series.

As far as English version is concerned Sky trilogy translations are owned by XSeed so not sure of NisA would just do their own translation if it is a remake.

Tho in theory a sky remake could be cool tho the fact is the series is always 2 years behind

There really isn’t an ideal entry point other than the first game of such a long running series though.

The series has been extended too far by mismanagement and creating unnecessary sequels in the Cold Steel series. Falcom has been milking the series and in a series where game plot impact depends on you playing other older games that’s going to alienate possible customers.

People don’t want to go back and play 10 games to get caught up to speed or even half that.

It’s made worse because if you don’t game on pc well the first 3 games are only playable on psp in the west otherwise . (Sky 3rd is only playable on pc in the west. )

The problem is that falcon spits out a new game yearly with massive script size where it’s impossible for us to catch up. Now that nisa took down any fan translations, the hype for this series is dead cause dodging spoilers is never fun.

Falcom really should just zero in on switch development. There games are always at least 1 gen back in terms of graphics might as well focus on the handheld crowd. And the trails series is perfect on a handheld device. Obviously port on PS5 and PC.

Their customer base will shrink overall as they keep extending this series. At some point they need to break from these past games. Persona got to be a multi-million seller because anybody can jump in from the numbered games so it doesn’t alienate new customers.

They should have been able to tell a complete store inside of 2 decades. Either that or they should be at the end.

There’s a reason most video games don’t try to tell a persistent store across multiple console generations that heavily depends on you playing the prior games. Too many breaking points where customers either are new to an ecosystem or leave one. Devs need their games to be accessible and the Trails series isn’t that.
