I'm willing to give it a try based off the strength of the Colbert Report, but my hopes aren't that high. Late night talk shows are too similar as is and I can't imagine what he'll bring that is any different than Kimmel, Fallon, ect.

The character of "Stephen Colbert" was what made the Colbert Report work. Not really sure how funny he is as himself. I'll give it a few weeks to see what he has but I'm honestly not expecting much. To be fair I wasn't expecting much from Corden and his Late Late Show is surprisingly good.

Nobody can replace Dave, but Colbert is genuinely funny. The thing is, he made his career off of being a character and it seems, no matter what he does, he's acting instead of just going with the flow (what Dave did best). I'm sure he can improvise during an interview, but what remains to be seen is if he can just be himself for an hour. Say what you want about Fallon, but dude is himself all the time and incredibly relatable to the audience. Same with Kimmel.
