“The key to mixing, when we recording it, you EQ the sound. Most people have it flat. We EQ it like we want to hear it when we record it…..” DJ Yella

At the 11:59 mark, DJ Yella speaks how him and Dr. Dre’s engineer work:

Continued quote from thread title:

“So as we come back to finish the song, when we’re mixing it, we EQ it again. But we also added like a kick drum, we may have like 3 kick drums, 3 separate kick drums, 2 or 3 snare drums, so we fattened our sound but that came from djing. Hearing others peoples records, we just learned that”

There's no right or wrong way to mix, as long as the final mix comes out good. Whether you EQ it as you're recording or you wait until the recording is done, makes no difference. If you're the recording engineer and also the mixing engineer, then it would just be a preference... to save you time for when you go to do the final mix... cause you'll have some of the EQ'ing already where you want it.

I saw this found it interesting. He seems kinda checked out the interview though lol. I don't think he enjoys discussing that stuff as much since he's born again.

He basically doing it for a check and Vlad mostly Gonna ask him about other nikkas

We interviewed him years ago and he said he enjoyed our interview the most because we got more indeph with him.

as long as the mix translates to all sound systems and theres no resonance thats the main thing.

you could have it bass heavy or treble heavy, most people that fukk with hip hop have their bass up on the EQ anyway so you gotta compensate for that just a little bit
