The Jordan Poole era in DC is already troubling! Is there hope?!

Will Jordan Poole finish his contract as a Washington Bullet?

No cape but….he’s playing out of position :hubie:

A lot of similar ‘bag’ type players have taken off in today’s game bc instead of being undersized 2s they play the 1. You get more efficient shots that way and there’s less pressure to jack up shots bc you’re touching the ball all game. Tyrese maxey, Tyrese Halliburton, harden, all flourished moving to the 1

This. People keep blaming him for last year when he's playing out of position with a small pg. He did nothing wrong then got accused of not working hard or being selfish. He takes some wild shots but when he's on one and his shirt is untucked he's uncontainable

picking and choosing when will help him. Also Jonas screens ealy help him and Kispert

Kerr tried to force him into that off ball role with the Warriors his first season and it took Kerr being ejected in a game and Mike Brown putting him on ball for Kerr to realize that aint his game. Don't know why Unseld didn't know that when the evidence was already there.

Unseld was a historically bad coach

I think it was a matter of a couple of guys who have been very good sub's needing a chance to be starters to prove themselves In the league. Ideally one of Tyus or Poole should have been off the bench. But they decided to give both the chance and Poole got slotted to play against bigger players at the two. He no longer had the ball in his hand to attack with his speed. He wasn't doing the dribble hand off threes that golden state creates to get easy threes.

He took the L's and the abuse from fans but behind closed doors the organization knows what type of person he is, which I got glimpses off with the Jordan Jimenez vlogs they do over summer. He also according to them puts in a lot of work.

Fans were quick to want to dump him and clown him. But this is a guy if you invest in can be a difference maker. He was supposed to be the future of golden state when they were light years ahead.

I also want brogdon and bub on ball and thankfully they will get reps but are big and physical enough to do it out of the two while still being able to run plays as the offense dictates. Everyone is being empowered whether they make mistakes or not because they will grow from it.

Annoys me when opposing team announcers just criticize your team and what they are doing. Like stfu. Hawks broadcast talked shyt and got 74 points put on their head on the second half after talking about we have an organized offense and we take bad shots. Wizards offense is anyone initiates, share the ball and play unselfish and take open shots. No ones gonna get on you for missing. The goal is to grow. Sarr keep shooting. Who gives a fukk what your percentages are. Those are shots you'll have to take I the future. Get your reps.

did he stop slipping and flailing every third possession ?

He's actually legitimately trying on defense now which is the biggest shift. I didn't mind him getting into foul trouble. It showed he was finally making efforts.

He's kinda stopped doing that thing you are talking about which used to happen for real. I think he's playing with more physicality and speed

I don't know what the fukk you're talking about, nxgga.

The majority of these scoring possessions he's playing off-the-ball.

He had plenty of time on the ball in GS, but he shyt the bed when the lights were the brightest, because he couldn't deal with defenses that gameplanned for him in the playoffs. In fact, the large majority of his boneheaded plays were when he was designated as the lead ball-handler, trying to do too many dribble moves and getting himself into trouble.

The key with him is, making sure he doesn't need to make too many decisions with the ball and doesn't need to navigate around too many defenders. It's why he flourishes in that hybrid role where he can get the ball when the defense isn't making him the center of attention.

It's only early, and it remains to be seen if he keeps up this play, but as @FAH1223 said, he's treating the game much more seriously this year instead of playing like he thought he was better than he actually was.

Will Dawkins gotta be lettin his nuts hang a bit. That Deni trade for Bub alone is lookin masterful. And yeah its early early but Coulabliy year 2 leap is crazy impressive. Poole seems to have bought into embracing the young dudes and is good to see.
