before i started up on the message board/blog scene i would anticipate an album, listen to the singles, and buy the album.

if it was good :dj2: and if it wasn't :ld:

i wouldnt be bombarded with hate threads every day about how this guy fell off and his next album is gonna be garbage. or nikkas gassing him up to be the second coming.

and i can't even enjoy some stuff cuz i know too much personal information about the rappers life.

for example this whole lupe fiasco thing. he was my favorite rapper after the cool dropped. then i get on this message board shyt and i find out he's a lame in real life. it just ruins my whole perception of him.

and im the same way about a lot of people.

but ive found some of the best rap out cuz of message boards. prolly woulda never heard of curren$y or dom kennedy :ahh:

its a gift and a curse :yeshrug:

Very true. Sometimes it does ruin the music. I try to avoid certain threads if I know it is about everything other than music but it is hard. Especially because you know you will miss comedy if you don't at least browse it.

bad example but u know what i mean
i could see if you said Rick Ross or something (personally i think his music has always been bland and generic as fukk let alone blown way the fukk out of proportion) but Drake is a bad example to use. i do feel you tho, sometimes the message boards can fukk with your perception of a rapper whether good or bad

If a message board completely messes with the way you percieve music, (and I don't mean in the sense that you thought a rapper sucks until a poster puts up some good shiznit and changes you mind, but more or less hive mind mentality making you hate a rapper you originally liked)

.... it says a lot more about you than it says about the internet.

yup, tbh I didnt realize how much negativity/bitterness/hatred there was out there among hip hop fans until a forum existed where people could talk shyt without consequences (the internet). a lot of hip hop fans are cynical as fukk. but dont let it rub off on u breh :shaq:

Felt that way about Mob Deep, nikkas in the hood would talk shyt about how soft they was but I just seen it as hate, but then I read about them on the internet and was like damn. But can't front some ppl on message boards be having a dude in tears with the shyt they posted about P. On sohh they had a post on how many ways nikkas would say P like p*ssy poppin P ____ _____ P, that shyt had a dude in straight tears b.

Great thread.

The stan-hater spectrum ruins hip hop for me. There is no gray area.

I dont read album threads anymore bc of it.

Ill take big biz's word for it bc he is fair and open minded, but not really anyone else.
