Keep in mind their definition of living comfortable is making twice as much money as you need for all your necessities.
So they are essentially saying you can survive on half this. Just you won't be travelling 3 times a year to paris, and saving up for that boat.

That's very comfortable IMO.
I'd say say $100k is enough in most places and that's easily achievable with a working spouse.

We make $180k combined without kids yet, so this sounds about right. Feels very "comfortable" where we can save, eat out, travel and pay bills without really sweating it (DFW).
Family of 4 can be comfortable on a lot less but it depends on the bills: house paid for or not? Cars paid off or you got 2 rides with $600+ car notes?
