The Gastonia Honey Hunters are a new baseball team and their opening game was on Thursday, May 27, 2021. The owner is Brandon Bellamy and he is the only Black majority owner of a professional baseball team.
Magic Johnson was at the opening game to throw the first pitch. Magic's company SodexoMAGIC is the food vendor for the stadium.
I went to the game this past Sunday. The Honey Hunters won the game in an extra inning and it was their first victory so that was cool to see.
