Someone explain wtf just happened:

It's a mess but it makes sense.
Last sunday there was an election for the European parliament. It didn't have much to do nationally but as usual Macron made it about himself as a test to know if he had the trust the electors.
The far right has steadily been on the rise for decades in Europe and France as well, and this is the election where they actually blew everybody out. In my city the far right got 20% but overall in the country it is at 37%
Macron's party is second at... 14.5% just a notch above the Socialist Party.
So objectively, the RN (Le Pen and Bardella's party) is the biggest force in the country and will have the most "congressmen" for France in the European parliament by far.
They already had a huge surge in congressmen in the French parliament in 2022 when out of 577, they had 90 and at those elections (they directly follow the presidential ones), Macron's party lost his majority so he had trouble governing since then. Therefore it needed the right (Republicans party) to pass legislation.
With this dissolution, Macron basically said "fukk it, y'all like the far right like that, I dare you to make them the majority in parliament". That's a huge gamble for our democracy. The next vote is a the end of the month and hopefully, the left manages to unite
